What nonprofits can learn from Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton

Those who know me well know that I’m a bit of a political junky, especially around the presidential election season that rolls around every four years. During these days between political conventions and the November 8th election I find myself glued to the debates like they are playoff games before the Super Bowl. I stay up late at night flipping between CNN and Fox News to hear the spin on the sometimes silly and sometimes stupid news about the latest tweets, taxes and emails - noise that distracts us from what matters most.

What if Fundraising was an Olympic Sport?

I’ve been staying up a little later than usual the past couple of weeks. Every two years, the Olympics take over my television. Since the timezone in Rio is an hour ahead of us, all the finale’s and best moments are being shown up to, and sometimes past midnight.

Three things a donor never forgets

Take 30 seconds and think of three special memories that jump out in your mind. They can be from your childhood, school, family, work, etc. No need to write them down. Just rattle off the ones that jump into your mind. Ready? Go!

Before, not after

We have lots of reminders about what has to happen before we achieve desired responses. Crawl before you walkThink before you speak Work before playLook both ways before crossing the roadYou have to dream before your dreams can come true
