Building a Small and Mighty Development Shop

Our family has officially kicked off fall soccer, and once again my little man has a desire to play goalie. At practice last week, one of the coaches stayed in goal with my son to give tips as they were working through drills. I was so happy because with my husband’s baseball background and my basketball experience, we are little to no help to our son.

Considering the Art of Making the Ask

One of my favorite things to do as a consultant is to train board members, campaign cabinets, and staff on the Art of the Ask. It is important that board members, and other councils and committees, are comfortable soliciting gifts. Asking for donations should be part of any board member job description, but many are fearful of fundraising and do not feel skilled at soliciting a donation.

One of Many Ways to say Thank You

As non-profit professionals, we are reliant on so many to fulfill our mission. We are constantly working to engage clients, staff, and board members. We are always looking for meaningful partners to collaborate with, and of course, we are always seeking donors who are as passionate about our mission as we are.

The Thank You Test

I’m not going to lie. My boys are a bit spoiled. They are surrounded by family and friends who shower them with love, attention, and almost every toy that exists at Target. At this stage in their life, they don’t realize how lucky they are, but I am determined to make sure they are grateful.
