Have you ever known that something is important, and you know you need to process it, and you just aren’t sure how?
Just over a year ago, on Armstrong McGuire’s first convening call with executive directors, Garry Crites, who is the Executive Director of NAMI North Carolina (National Alliance on Mental Illness), asked a very important question to the other leaders on the call: “What are you doing to take care of yourself?”
My sister asked me recently, “What do arts leaders need to hear from you in this moment?”And my answer came easily: “We need these organizations to help the community heal. Please, arts leaders, find a way to use your gift and help us each heal.”
I do not like writing. My story is “I am not good at writing. I am not clear enough. I have too much to say. I don’t have enough to say.”And so every time I need to write something more than an email I get anxious and then I put it off, which makes me more anxious, which reinforces my identity story that I am not a good writer, and the cycle continues.
Whether you’re ready to expand your organizational capacity and move forward with purpose, or just want to talk shop, we’d love to connect.
